Why bother sending a coupon if they are going to refuse it?

Its been a while since I had ordered anything or been in to a CW store. This week I got a sales catalog in the mail and on the back is a coupon that states:

$25 Off any purchase, No minimum purchase, No strings attached.

Then a paragraph of small text that basicly says it cannot be applied to previous purchases or redeemed for cash and it expires March 15th.

I went to CampingWorld.com figuring I would give them another try since they wanted to pay me $25 to come back. Put a few items in my cart totaling well over $25 and went to check out. Put in the coupon code on the coupon and the web site says the coupon is not valid on any of the items in the cart. Yes, at least one item was over $25.

Why do they bother to print and mail these promotions if they are not going to honor them. Do they really think I will just say oh well, thanks for the privilege of being ripped off?

So I left the CW web site without buying anything came here to complain about it and once again resolve that CW is just not worth the trouble to try and do business with, just as I had though for the last few years.
  • I heard back from Camping World. They responded that I could make a purchase and send the receipt along with the coupon to an address they provided (it was not on the coupon) and they would send me a check. They then indicated that since they were willing to do this the coupon was indeed valid.

Sorry but that is not a coupon, its a mail in rebate and given the history I have had with CW, I have little faith it would ever get paid. My time is more valuable than chasing slips of paper to get small checks in the mail because CW cannot manage to honor a simple coupon offer they print and send out.

As stated in the previous posts, I would LIKE to do business with them but as long as they continue to use these less than forthright business practices, I will have to continue not doing so.

Why is it I never have a problem with CW/GS regardless of where or what I am purchasing including the use of coupons? Luck?, I think not since it doesn't seem to carry over to other endeavors. The end user? I don't know. Most of these posts seem to involve purchases via the internet. Possibly a lack of working knowledge of how to navigate the system? It is a curious phenomena that has never plagued any purchase I made.

I am so glad your black tank don't stink and your are most perfect in every way. But if you have nothing to add to the thread, keep yer trap shut.

The coupon does not work as described. Its not a user error, I am quite capable of computer usage and internet protocols. Its a CW error, not mine. There is not a CW physical store withing 50 miles of me so going to one is not gonna happen. It was a sales catalog for the online site and the coupon should work as advertised. It does not. If you are happy doing business with CW and getting ripped off, fine. Some of us are not. They can either come clean and do business in an upstanding way or go out of business.

I WANT to do business with them. I APPRECIATE that they sponsor this forum and other things in this industry. They just need to do business in a much better and more upstanding way.
  • I sent Good Sam Care Team a PM as requested yesterday but have not yet heard back. It is the weekend. I will post up if this gets resolved or not.
  • jch, Understand there is a need to provide pers info behind the curtain. Please post whether CW was able to resolve your issue.

and hopefully everyone will assume CW/GS took care of the problem instead of blowing smoke

  • Why is it that Camping World seems to be plagued with so many customer un-friendly issues? Many other, bigger retail organizations seem to be able to appreciate their customers without annoying them with these schemes.
