Maybe, and maybe not. My relic email client will still have a copy of my email receipts and important emails after the cloud burps and you lose yours. Newer sometimes just means different, not necessarily better.

The cloud is nothing more than a remote storage device, very similar to the mainframe of the early computing days, when there was insufficient storage to keep things on the local clients.
