- Thanks!
I am trying to figure out whether my occasional problem is related to the power cord. I am using a dedicated power receptacle for the dish. At times it seems that I must disconnect plug and insert again. seems almost like open circuit but the dish runs.
Of course it only happens when not able to test everything out. - bgumExplorerenblethen,
I was using a combination charger and air pump with a cigarette lighter plug. It had worked (over a couple year period) in the past. I then used the truck to power the dish and it worked. Currently it is seeing normal programming. - bgum:
could you expand on results a little? Where you using the 120 volt to 12 volt power supply or was it a cigarette style receptacle connection?
What type of results other then getting reception? - bgumExplorerdsheets hit it dead on. It seems the power supply was the problem. The dish was hunting but not finding the bird.
Thanks to all for the help. - dsheetsExplorerRan in to the same thing with my 1518. Called Winegard and they suggested I connect the plug in to the car. That solved the problem. My power supply was the problem. After plugging into the cig. lighter it found the satellites
What my system was doing was searching and not locking on to a sat.
I didn't think my power supply was bad since the dish was moving. New power supply and everything works . - bgumExplorerThanks Bill I will try as suggested when the sun comes up. I shut the thing down when dark hit.
- Bill_SatelliteExplorer IITry 18" round and be sure the multiswitch setting is Multiswitch. Before you power up, go into Repeat Satellite Setup, select the above options and then go the Signal Strenth and Signal Meter. With the signal meter on screen you will see 101 and transponder 1. Now power on the Carryout and see if it locks and gives you a 70+ signal.
- bgumExplorerDish does move. Have tried different receiver. Have re-authorized receiver.
- Do you hear the dish running and trying to find the birds?
If no, have you checked to insure you have `12 volts to the dish? The connector from the factory isn't that great. I have just left that end connected and Ty-wrapped to it doesn't move too much.
It would be nice if Winegard would come up with a retro fit to change the connector. I may do it myself this winter.
Have you tried a different receiver? The one we use doesn't always like the dish and needs to be reset more often. I plan on changing it out with another from the house. - bgumExplorerD12-100. I have run a line direct from the 1518 to the receiver. 3LNB 18"X20" multi switch
Sorry I took so long to get back to you
