winegard sensar pro

I got a winegard sensar pro went to hook it up today followed the directions but, I cant get it to work. Im not sure if I did something or if the unit is bad. Hooked up the 2 wires the hot and ground wires but the unit would turn on. Hooked the old unit back up to it and it works fine. Any suggestions?

NOTE: Winegard did, at one time, sell an antenna that did NOT have a pre-amp in the had... Now I do not know this antenna but there are two common designes, Dipole and folded dipole

A Dipole designed for TV use (With no electronics in the head) will show as an open circuit to the antenna connection
A FOLDED dipole is a short.
  • You need to start with the gain set to 10 which is no additional amplification and no attenuation. You also need to verify that the 3 coax connections are on the proper line. It sounds to me like they are not. You can go up on the roof and remove the coax from the head of the antenna. If there is not 12V power in the coax itself then you are wired incorrectly.
