I would kill anyone who put Symantec/Norton anything on my computer. Memory hogs, overpriced, and almost impossible to completely remove.
One of the best things you can do is keep your software up to date, and pay attention to where you click. Don't use links that come to you in emails; go directly to the site and log in.
