The same thing will happen if you happen to call a Dish CS rep. Chat helps, asking for tech. support only helps and posting here first helps more than any other option. The answers are here!

The solution to that is to not call them. There's only one reason I would ever call: to change locals. There's nothing else I know of that necessitates a phone call.

Happy DTV customer since 2000. You will find the same of most Dish customers and most DirecTV customers but you will never find 100% agreement.

We have Dish with the Trav'ler and have had excellent performance (except for the occasional tree-then just switch to "carry-out") I have no idea whether Dish customer service can speak English or not as I have did all of my communication via chat and have had nothing but positive experiences. Our big complaint for any of the providers (cable, Direct, Sling, Dish, etc.) was final cost. We did not need or want mega-packages, just basic locals and some of the more popular cable networks. Until we found the Dish Welcome Pack, we simply could not justify the cost. It takes a little digging to find the Welcome Pack as it is not something Dish advertises much. Our total bill for our basic Dish programming including taxes and two receivers monthly, $29.93. When we move out of the last spot beam, I use their chat and within moments, we have the locals which is what we wanted along with the other channels in the package. We prefer local programming/news so we can keep up with what is happening in the area we are in at the time. OTA programming is OK but when you are 60+ miles from a broadcast tower, not too reliable. We are happy with Dish.

Nine years as a month to month Dish customer and I have never spoken to them by phone. All transactions have been pleasantly handled online from the initial receiver activations to some minor trouble shooting to frequent (sometime daily) service address changes. Between the Dish chat system, our MyDish account, and the very helpful members of "DIRT", the Dish Internet Response Team, on the Dish Support and other Dish related forums, there's never been a need for a phone call.

You will find the same experience with both services.
I have never had an issue with DTV but others find it to be unbearable. I can recite the same thing about Dish but not by personal experience.

We have had Dish Network for years and no way I will change. I just take a receiver from the house with us when we camp/RV.
