1992 Ford van camper

I would definitely flush the brake fluid. Brake fluid absorbs water from the air and that will cause the water to boil in a hard stop and let the pedal go to the floor. It happened to me on my '89 E350. Brake fluid needs to be flushed every 2-3 years because of moisture.

Interesting! I have a 1992 GM 2500 with Twice that mileage. Bought it new in 1993.

It is still running pretty well, though I'm avoiding going too far from home after problems in the last several years - heater core, water pump, alternator, idle bearing on the serpentine belt. The heater core failed on a camping trip where we were lucky to find a repair shop that patched it up right away with a plastic hose adapter (I think half an inch on one side and 3/4 on the other) to bypass the heater core. It might be an idea to have one of those with you.

I have trouble with the brakes grabbing at very low speed stops. I must have a good look at the front brakes, which haven't been serviced for ten years other than bleeding all the old brake fluid out.

I tried jump starting the generator by using the vans battery while the van was running. Same results, would not start, just the click, click.

The generator is run gasoline from the vans tank.

Battery has been charged and is in good cond.

How was this determined? For experimentation, I would suggest to jump start with another battery or a charger connected close to the genset. A starter solenoid clicking multiple times is indicative of a low voltage situation.

Is it powered by propane? If so, then there is air in the line. Turn on a stove burner and try to light it. When you can, try the generator again.

Hit the starter motor with a hammer while cycling the key. Seriously.
If solenoid is working then the Bendix or brushes are froze up or a dead spot in the windings.
If that doesn't work get a new starter.
Bout the only 2 options unless you like re building electric motors.
