Riding in a trailer is illegal in every state I'm aware of. It's more of a DOT regulation that the states follow. It's also a REALLY bad idea. Why do you think "safety chains" are required?
Your best bet is to get a motorhome, either a Class A,B, or C and tow a small cargo trailer. I'm happy with my B but my new ladyfriend may get me to get one a bit larger. The shower is useless for anyone over 4 feet tall. I'm 6 foot and she's 5'11. My trailer is larger than I wanted at 6X12 feet. I got a screaming deal so I live with the longer length. I use t for logistics support at the races. A Goldwing trike will fit in it just fine. It's tall enough I can stand up so you can ride up into it. Just get one with a ramp door on the back and, if possible, an RV latch on the side door.
A class C will probably do you the best as it has more headroom. A's are a bit hard to find a place to park and B's are handy and drive like a van, but headroom is really tight. By the way, don't get caught walking around inside while in motion. Seatbelt laws are a probably cause and police can pull you over just on not wearing a seat belt. Walking around means you don't have it on.
