Lots of nice places in the southwest and SF bay area and Calgary Canada and even Alaska where you can rent a Class C RV for a week or two and travel around. While at campgrounds you can talk to other campers about their rigs and what they like and dislike about them, what they used to have before the RV the now have and if they plan to make a change in the future.
With your budget a Class C will be the most economical and easiest to manage. You can add a power rack for a motorcycle or carry a bicycle and get some exercise. More complicated is to spend $30,000 on a truck as a tow vehicle and $20,000 on a travel trailer. The advantage of the pickup is the availability of the bed of the truck for boats, bikes, or even an ATV - space that is not available with a 5th wheel trailer.
But rent an RV and learn what you both like and dislike and learn first hand about traveling in one.
