Spending 4-6 hours with stuff running and the owner available to answer questions you my have is reasonable. I would/have done this, and after the sale is complete had them "camp" right there so they could ask anything else after an overnight.
Most RV mattresses are junk so plan on a new one, that factor out of the way, the 4-6 hour inspection/reading should suffice.
Hope it's a nice unit and the hunt will be over. :) :)
