ToedToes,
Thank you. A rational, well thought out response.
I agree with what you said -- both favoring my request, and going against it. This was exactly the kind of thoughtful, productive response that I was hoping I could illicit. The general "You're an idiot" response that many people threw out serves absolutely no purpose other than to give people an opportunity to bash.
I especially found the fridge discussion helpful. I had never really thought about checking the electric vs propane... figured if the fridge is cold it must work. I will be the first to admit that I have a LOT to learn about RV's. I have done a lot of research online, but reading how to bypass a hot water heater and knowing where the thing is even located are two completely different animals. Not to mention when the owner -- two owners ago -- made modifications and didn't bother to document them.
I have absolutely no impression that the seller is trying to rip me off. I certainly don't know enough about RV's to try and rip him off. I am just looking for the most efficient, cost effective way to make sure that the second largest purchase that I have made in my life doesn't turn out to be a money pit from which I can't escape.
I could go on, but I won't. As I said, I will accept that this is an understandable, albeit unreasonable request for me to make and to expect to be honored. I will not insist on it, but I won't be rushed into a decision to buy either. This is a buyers market - especially this time of year - and I will buy if and when I am satisfied that I know exactly what I am getting. End of story.
Bash away. Feel free to make it personal, Francesca certainly doesn't mind doing so.
