Awning LIghts

ok, just looking for some opinions.

been looking at several different types of lighting. pros and cons?

1) the 'fun shape 10 light set'
these will need to be taken down and put up each the you do
the same to the awning. cute but worth the effort?

2) the LED strip. these are attached directly to the RV and are left
attached all the time.

3) the 3pc 6ft attachments that slide onto the awning and then hold
lengths of rope light.

4) the 'just unroll the rope light and lay it on the ground' system!

I'm sure there are several different types that I just haven't come across yet.

anyone have any thoughts?

thanks for you input - EM

  • Rope lights tied off behind the awing roller & plugged in to the outside outlet. It is abit bush but serves the purpose.
  • I personally prefer #1 but since we typically camp without electric hook-ups, we go for the solar LED variety. Set-up only takes a couple minutes (usually takes longer to detangle them!) Most of our camping trips are typically only 3-4 days but they are totally worth the effort, IMO. Just bought a set of Klippy Klips to use with the new camper's awning, I'm anxious to try them out. Looks like they will very very unobtrusive and since our lights aren't very heavy should hold them just fine. Klippy Klips
  • If you decide on the traditional wire sets, I found these very helpful and easy to use. Rollumup

Nice thing about these hangers, is you do not have to remove them. They just roll up with the awning.
  • We don't have awning lights, and I may fore-go them to save weight, but I like #1) the 'fun shape 10 light set'. They're kinda nostalgic since the advent of LED, and it makes me happy to see the various shapes/themes choosen by the owner. The LEDs seem kinda sterile. I get that they draw little power and are convenient, and I guess you can set up a bit of an action-color display sorta deal, but they're soul-less.

no problems with the LED's? staying on etc. from my reading it sounds like these would be put, attached to the RV, right where the awning attaches to the RV? isn't the plug for the LED at the end of the strand? you have to have a ladder to plug in?

my apologies for what now sounds like some 'stupid' questions.
