- 2012ColemanExplorer IITo me, this looks like a case of Crowdfunding.
RV.net is not an appropriate place for this. The OP's posts were more about how am I going to pay for my project than asking for advice. The link to the blog soliciting donations was the give-away. - ependydadExplorer^^^ She.
- ryhedExplorerSo what he asked for donations, you don't have to. I'll donate my knowledge all day long and that's the only donation I ever make. Keep an eye out in the barter sections and swap meets. He learned his lesson time to move on, if he keeps violating he's gonna need a new mac address.
- beemerphile1ExplorerFWIW the OP has solicited donations here on RV.net more than once. The last thread was deleted just a couple days ago. In my opinion the OP has only one motive and that is to advertise their blog and to solicit funds in violation of forum rules.

That's fine. But don't set up a donation site to ask for money. - westendExplorer

This is an awesome project and I wish you the best of luck with it and hope that you get all the advice and support you need to get it done. If you don't mind me asking what would make you take on a project like this knowing you don't have the money to complete it. I just don't understand asking people you don't know to help support you in your project. This isn't a bunch of medical bills for a sick child that your asking people to help you with its an RV. Why not do the work as you can afford it instead of asking for "donations". I'm sorry I'm not trying to be an ass, I grew up in a house that borrowed nothing once I shoveled snow with a square point shovel when our snow shovel broke so I just don't understand asking for money for something that you don't absolutely need. It just seems to me the underlying tone of this is all about getting money.
Agree. I wish at 26 I could have traveled, met interesting people and not worked. This is America. My wife and I worked for 34 years to get what we have. :) Try working for what you want. WE DID! You could also.

A little bit of each paycheck goes toward the conversion. I want this project to be as inexpensive as possible. So, I wait for sales at hardware stores, I use Ebay to bid on cheaper items, I ask friends for help, and I use Craigslist whenever possible. I also plan to create a campaign with Indiegogo to try and fund my project. - mark5wExplorer

In response to a question- I check this forum several times a month, but work on my blog regularly, so I prefer to respond to comments on my blog. - mlts22Explorer IIAt the renaissance faires I go to, I've seen some old U-haul conversions that are very nice, or at least livable, with water tanks, built in gas generator using the engine's tank, battery bank, solar panels on top, and custom wood/metal fab work to have a door put in.
It is doable, if one has the time and patience.
