Brand new to camping
Wife decided we're going to start camping. Partially driven by my desire to see MI UP. Father in law tried to give me a motorhome a few years ago and I passed.
So, we found and bought a 19' Terry in really good condition. Found a few simple things wrong, the worst one was whoever replaced the hot water heater didn't know a thing about gas fittings. Fire coming out the side of the trailer alerted me to a small problem :) That's been fixed and it works fine now.
Started a thread on tow vehicle as I'm pushing max.
Put brand new tires on the trailer, as the 15yo tires were, well, 15 years old :)
My idea of camping was a holiday inn without a pool, so this is going to be interesting.
First trip is 30 miles from home, reserved a pull through spot. I have extensive towing experience, and have no issues backing up, just looking to limit potential issues while learning how this stuff works.
Biggest problem is going to be putting my long frame on the short bed, not sure how that's going to work out.
Wife has some limited camping experience from her Dad, and is working hard to get us set up for comfort and camping. So far we have a small propane grill, small coffee maker, kitchen and dining utensils, some light food stores for the first weekend trip, outdoor chairs and a small 6x8 piece of outdoor rug. Everything in the trailer checks out and works. Tow set-up tested and works (short trip). Limited amount of tools taken from my old boat. 1 full propane tank, one nearly empty propane tank that i want to exchange as it was having a tough time sealing properly. New propane controller installed. Bought a small TV that will play digital media off a USB drive.
Bought two 25' water hoses, have 15a -> 30a adapter. 10' long 15' extension cord. Changed out the incandescent lights, indoor, outdoor, and most of the running lights to LED. Still want to install a water filter for drinking water.
Previous owner delivered the trailer to my house, and while showing me how to use load leveling bars, I quickly realized his instructions weren't taking advantage of the load leveling bars. I have yet to do a full measurement set up process, but at least understand how they are supposed to work. Haven't yet towed with stabilizer bar attached.
So, am I going to enjoy this or regret getting this great deal on a generally well taken care of TT?
