Buying an RV and dealer question/pricing

When we were shopping for our RV we went to one dealer who told us flat out - "if you buy it at another dealer, don't bring it here for warranty work as we won't do it!" We moved on to another dealer.

I never had a warranty problem. Unless there is a problem with the box itself you will be dealing with the system manufacturer any way.
I had an awning recall It was handle in three days time by the manufacturer. The dealer sent me a post card 3 months after it was fixed.

Agreed, 100%.

My "local" dealer who I bought from turned out to be a big fat dud. And, we travel often and usually quite far. I haven't had an issue having warranty work taken care of.

Lots of RV dealers will not service it if you didn't buy it from them. Stupid if you ask me to lose the revenue. I bought VRV (not Livin LIte) that needed work and the MFG paid my local RV dealer to do warranty work. I paid the bill and the MFG (ATC) just sent me a check. Ask Livin Lite if they will pay any dealer you choose to do any work needed.

Oh, I know. I was referring to the person that thought it was odd to have an RV shipped. :)

I found this to be the case when we purchased a new Heartland and had it shipped across the country. Heartland authorized several local service centers to complete any warranty work needed.

I'd be more concerned how legit an offer on line that will SHIP it to you is. NOT!

THAT has ALL the red flags of a scam. You send money up front to ship.....the Nigerian scammer pockets the money and you have no TT.

You won't have to worry about non-local warranty work because you will have been scammed and out money and have no TT. :W

Seriously be VERY CAREFUL about buying on line RV's when it involves shipping.

Rvwholesalers.com and RVdirect.com are 2 online sellers and get very good reviews, and supposedly have a network of repair places is you ever need warranty work. Almost ordered from them until a local dealer matched their price.

The more truthful statement is that they WON'T do warranty work, not they CAN'T do warranty work.

Contact the manufacturer and find authorized warranty places near you. You don't need to take it to a dealer, often times there are independent shops that can handle warranty repairs.

If you buy online, make sure you are buying from a reputable business. Make sure they are an authorized distributer for the manufacturer, or else the manufacturer might not even extend the warranty to you.
