Caulk remover

Have slide out that has real hard caulk on it.used a plastic putty knife, does not work.I do not want to ruin the clear coat on the slide out. Help
  • Hair dryer or heat gun on low heat to soften it up. Scrape with a hard plastic putty knife or credit card. Laquer thinners to clean up the residue. There is no magic easy way.
  • When you replace it & want a smooth bead here is a trick. You can never get it smooth & neat with just the gun.

Tape either side. Apply, not too much. Smooth over with an ice cube. It will not drag like a tool.
  • Use the tool in the Homax kit, lay your bead of caulk then spray the area with soapy water then using the tool smooth; several youtube videos on this method.
