Changing air filter

My Jayco Greyhawk is in for warranty work and I asked them to do oil change. Just got a call that I need a new air filter (at 11,000 miles)but when they said it would cost $75 I said no I can do it myself. Now I am second guessing. I can do it myself in my car so I am thinking this is no big deal. Am I wrong? Is it hard to get to?
  • 11000 miles? Just blow the dust out with compressed air and put it back in.

    Cuba Libre every time
  • $75 for an air filter, I hate to ask about the oil change cost.

Thanks all. It is a Ford 450 Triton Engine so I think I can handle that for far less money.

Should be able to do that with one eye closed and one hand around an adult beverage. ;)

  • Good to have on hand, a spare OEM air filter is an easy replacement. Just keep it in the box until you remove the old filter - hold the old filter up to the sunlight and see if you can see daylight through the pleated media. If you can still see the bright light, your filter is still doing it's job. When dirty, it won't permit much light at all. This is a good benchmark to check the condition of your air filter.

True, if it's a E450 with the V-10, it's a very simple 2 minute job, I forget the cost at WalMart, but I believe it's less than $20 IIRC, certainly NOT a $75 job, (unless perhaps you have a K&N filter). At 11,000 mi., you must be driving all Dry, dusty, dirt roads. :h
