Do I need to stop at a weigh station ?

I am in MN if that matters.

My half ton truck weights I dunno 7,000 lbs,

and my camper weight 5700 dry, plus 2 atvs and water, so I am way over10,000 pounds

On the way home, I say a sign that says

"ALL TRUCKS AND TRAILERS OVER 10,000 LBS COMBINED MUST STOP"

I sped up and kept going of course, but what should I have done ?
  • Speed up and keep going but wave also! :B

NO...you do not stop at weigh stations

You are NOT 'commercial' or 'for hire'....just a regular joe with a regular drivers license.

    Actually...
Some states that have that 'signage' posted do require " passenger or specialty vehicles, either single or in combination (towing a trailer) with GVWR of 10,000 lbs. or more" to stop.

Course now you have to find/understand the intent of the verbiage "passenger...vehicle"

BUT as you noticed...no body came chasing you down with flashing red/blue lights

    I pulled in ONCE....due to that signage----Combined I close to 22K
Pulled in..head stuck out window and group of officers standing behind gent at window were looking at me like a tree full of owls when the gent at window YELLED "Go on GIT! GO!"

Last time I pulled in at ANY weigh station regardless of signage.
Have driven by many and had yet to get chased down.

    So "GO ON --- GIT!"
