There were plenty of valid and courteous responses to the OP in this thread. If the OP is shocked at a couple of perfectly reasonable responses about the intention of his original post than he/she hasn't been on the internet very much.

Some choose to assume we run people off. I choose to believe these OP's are trolls. Without any response from them, we have little idea. If some posts are offensive, let the moderators handle it. They're usually pretty good at that.

I beg to differ. I think the holier-than-thou rudeness displayed by some members to newbies is unacceptable. Yes, some posts like this are solely for the benefit of trolling. However, I believe SOME and I say SOME are genuine and the poster should be treated with respect. I'll admit to being guilty of posting "please don't feed the troll" but in hindsight if one believes the poster is, indeed, a troll, just let it rest.

On the other hand, if it's a seasoned veteran then the gloves come off! :B

I suggest that particular subject 'cause that's where I got my first coat of armorplating back in 2011. Talk about wet behind the ears... I actually ventured an opinion on trailer tires in one of my very first posts EVER at this site. One needn't read the whole thread to see the full extent to which I got raked over the coals...but this excerpt from one of my posts just before thread shutdown certainly conveys the flavor of the drubbing I was getting.

You have to start somewhere.

Curious about where you're going to park around NYC or if that is part of the goal. If so, I'd try somewhere in Brooklyn as there are a few spots where you could blend in and might get lucky to find some dedicated parking (homeowner or acquaintance with a driveway).

If you're hitting the road with the RV, you can follow some of the good advice already posted. I'll confirm that living in an RV in colder climes will be a test of fortitude and perseverance as really none of the standard-built rigs have good insulation or good mechanical systems. At least not efficient enough to make it an easy task. If you find yourself in a cold parking spot and are staying for awhile, skirting and underbody heating is a good improvement.
