How to Change a tire on a camping trailer

So I got a flat on the way home from a trip and had to change it. it was trickier then I thought it would be. The double axial and the spinning wheel every time you tired to loosen the nut, was a pain. I created a tutorial in case any one has troubles like I did.

hope you enjoy it, see link below.

I use Good Sam ERS to change mine. :)

I can change a tire and be on my way to the campsite in less than 15 minutes. I think it's a lot safer to get away form the side of the road as quickly as possible.
How long do you think you'll have to sit waiting for G/S? ;)
  • I use a homebuilt wood ramp on the good tire to raise the flat one, and consider it more stable than my bottle jack. The ramp can also be used to "lock up" the flat tire to loosen those bolts. I'm undecided regarding your suggestion about spraying WE40. Did you have sufficent leverage?

Nadkaw, I suggest you change a tire realistically at home for practice. No need whatsoever to do it in the rain, wind, dark, cold, hot however. Then you will be ready for changing a tire...in the rain etc. Very comforting to know you will have no issue with the TT tires if one goes flat.

Nice write-up! I've never had the privilege of having to change a tire on my trailer... fingers crossed.
  • I loosen the nuts on the wheel then drive upon blocks of wood. Change the tire all within 10 or 12 min. Mush faster than waiting for Good Sam ERS which I have and I am nearly 80 yrs old
