- rockhillmanorExplorer IIJust changing your address on a couple of credit cards is not going to fly. You have to show utility bills with your address on it.
- OutdoorPhotograExplorerHaving lived in FL before, there are no income taxes and sales tax is low compared to some states but fees are high. Not sure if it still exists, but 20 years ago there was a tax on "intangibles" that applied to investments outside of retirement accounts.
If you ever have a FL license plate and then gap it, keep it because at least once upon a time, proving you registered a vehicle before in the state waived the impact fee. - rockhillmanorExplorer IIDefinitely go to the Florida DMV site first.
Since the inception of the wonderful ID Act you now have to have numerous pieces of ID to get a DL.
Been there did that this month what a pain.
And THEN come to find out that there are impact fees 'on top' of the base fee of registering your vehicle if coming from out of state. $500 to register just my car. :( - YC_1NomadAmerican Home Base

Have you checked to see if Florida has a "continuous traveler" license like Oregon has?? - sdianel_-acct_cExplorerFirst you need an address. You can obtain one with a mail forwarding service or UPS store. We used www.myrvmail.com in Crestview Florida. They can help you with the drivers licenses. Once you get the address, you need to change some of your bills so you have proof of address. For example credit card bills. You can go to this site and get the list of documents you will need: http://www.gathergoget.com/default.aspx
- tatestExplorer IIThis is discussed frequently in the full-timer's forum here.
Basically, to establish domicile you must have a permanent address by Florida's standards, even though you don't actually live at the location. Florida, Texas, and South Dakota make this easier than most other states, thus they are favored domiciles for RV full timers and other people in a similar situation.
