- Dutch_12078Explorer IIWalmart, Home Depot, Lowes, Amazon, etc... Child-proof latches.
- RoyBExplorer III carry a bunch of these short elastic bungee cords to use through the door handles or knobs etc.. If only one door knob is used then you can add a tie point on the door frame to tie it off too.
Roy Ken - tenbearExplorerGoogle "cabinet door catches", You should be able to find something that will help. Amazon has quite a selection.
- SoundGuyExplorerI use shock cord custom cut for those cabinets I know have a habit of opening ... those that don't I just leave 'em as is. A series of 4 pics starts here. Works like a charm, have never had one of these cabinet doors inadvertently open, ever, regardless of how rough the roads have been. :B
- bandit86ExplorerIt wad an almost empty cabinet, with just the tank chemicals inside.
The windows were the plastic cabinet windows that slid open.
I'm thinking of installing a little rod to keep stuff from rolling against the door. The biggest door is warped, I tried adjusting the latch but it might be beyond help. Maybe like a half knob I could turn to keep the cabinet latched. Have almost 3000 miles planned im not picking up everything every time I stop - BumpyroadExplorerone mine over the stove/sink that are hinged on the outer edge I just use an industrial strength twistem on the two handles.
bumpy - sdianel_-acct_cExplorerwith the right latches adjusted properly the cabinets and doors should not open. Ours never have in 10 years.
- In my many years of rough-road RVing at slow reasonable speeds, I have still had every cabinet in the camper do a self-eject at one time or another. That includes the refrigerator.
#1 packing rule: Prevention. Do not allow anything to get a run at the door. Most of my cabinets have baskets or boxes inside them now and that helps to keep things in place.
I added a complete second set of latches, so now each door has two.
I carry a roll of blue masking tape, the kind that does not damage finishes. It will help to hold a door shut until you can fix things properly.
I suppose that tape could also hold windows shut temporarily. But don't your windows have latches? You are not driving with windows partially open, are you? - diazr2ExplorerMine fly open on the roads in Alaska. Those damned per-ma frost heaves are brutal. I use bungee cords to lock them together. Still need to drive very slowly though. I would think the roads down here would need no such entrapment. I too have never had a door fly open unless of course I hit a pot hole at a high rate of speed.
- Jack_Diane_FreeExplorerMight be a problem of what is loaded into the cabinets and shifting while rockin and rollin along the highway. I do not recall that we have ever had a cabinet come open in the last 20 years and 6 trailers.
