First, I've been reading post since we bought our trailer in Dec. 2012. Finally got around to sign up because I have so many questions to ask the experience. However, I will keep questions to a minimum so that I can make a good impression.We have a 4 and 6 year old(won't mention wife's age), in July we are traveling to Breyerfest in Kentucky. On our way back we are planning to spend a few days in Nashville, any suggestions on family friendly RV parks to stay(within a reasonable price)?Also, outside of the "known" sites Nashville to see, any cool and less publicized places that are a must visit with the family?(We'll be there on a Mon.-Wed.)This may seem like a silly question but I am still learning lingo and "rules" of RVing. When you color in a state on the map, does it count if you drive through it or do you have to camp in that state?:)Thank you,Kyle

Go to Nashville Tn. Chamber of Commerce on google. (The sight you want is Nashville Tn chamber of commerce, but I dont recall the exact name on the website). Anyway, go there and order a Nashville travel guide. It is very helpful.I didnt go to your personal page, so I dont know what trailer you bought, or tow vehicle you have, but have a great time travelling/camping. Welcome to the forum as a contributing member. Jump in anywhere you think you can help, and the only stupid question is the one you don't ask. A couple suggestions. "Kingwood" means something to you, but most of us don't have a clue. Good thing for us to know if you ever need directions to someplace.Second, parking the RV is generally divided into Full hookup parks (FHUs) which offer water, sewer and electric and sometimes with WIFI and cable TV, and Boondocking with no or minimal hookups. If you have a preference, let us know.As far as the map goes, there aren't any rules. Mine shows the places I've overnighted in the RV, but I've been in every state except Washington, Oregon and Hawaii, many without the RV. And I suspect that many of us haven't updated our maps in a long time.

I don't bother with the map We have been to 48 States and from B.C. to New Brunswick/Nova Scotia in Canada so it would be pretty much filled in. Someonly count with the current RV and some decide they had to sleep there. Your choice on the map.

I was going to recommend you take the NashTrash tour till I got to the part about the yard apes. Definitely not recommended for underage persons, but it was a LOT of fun!As far as the map goes, your map, your rules. MY map has only states where I have slept in the RV, plus Hawaii where I tent camped one night. (Had a hotel room, but the beach was SO romantic, and deserted.) It is kind of hard to get the RV to Hawaii, hence my exception.

Kyle, There are several Kingwoods, and which you are returning to is not identified.... If it is Texas, then I may have an idea. Get the book and take the kids home down the Natchez Trace. Detour for Vicksburg (and maybe the Windsor Ruins - with a TT that might not be fun), but be sure to stop at the Meriwether Lewis memorial and read about a lot of the others stops, you just can't make them all in a summer unless you have all summer. Antique Archeology has an new store in Nashville, but it would be difficult to get near for a TT and the kiddies will be bored. When we went by, there was a line waiting to get in. Kyle: if you're planning to stay at the Kentucky Horse Park Campground, I suggest you have reservations in advance. The campground is usually full on weekends, or nearly so, and Breyerfest draws a big crowd. There is another campground north of Georgetown, Whispering Hills, that's also nice. Plan on visiting Old Friends Thoroughbred Retirement Farm while you're at Breyerfest. One of the Old Friends retirees, Bull inthe Heather, is a Breyer. Old Friends is just a few miles from the Kentucky Horse Park. Enjoy your stay in Kentucky.

Seven Points is one of our favorite CGs. It's pet and kid friendly with nice large and many private sites.

I would suggest staying at the Jellystone cg on Music Valley Road. We have stayed there many times. They had lots of kids activities going on there when we were there. Most activities in that area really aren't geared for young children. We did take our son, when he was young, to the Opryland Hotel. He loved walking on all the paths in the gardens, took the little boat ride, and enjoyed watching the water/light show. They have several casual eating places that I think your kids would enjoy. There is a family restaurant on Music Valley Road called "John A's" that we like to eat at. It has live music on the weekend. I don't know if they have anyone performing during the week. You could check it out. Your children would be welcomed there. Hope you enjoy your stay. Jellystone might be a few more dollars, but has more activities for kids.

We stayed at the KOA several times in years past. Last spring we stayed at Seven Points on the J. Percy Priest lake, but we weren't touring downtown or sightseeing. Loved our stay there.

We liked Two Rivers also, but I'm not sure how kid friendly it is. Not that it's kid unfriendly, just not sure it has a playground, etc. As to the map, I once read that someone only colored in their map if they had sex in the state....just saying what I read.......

Welcome to the Forums Kyle. You will enjoy the Breyerfest. Is this being held at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington? Neat place. I hear the camping area is nice but we have never camped there.

Reference Nashville, we liked the campgrounds on Music Valley Road. There is a KOA, Jellystone, (I believe) and another one that is also nice. You are close to restaurants within walking distance and if you should need anything, there is a Camping World on the same street. Downtown is nice. The DW and I have been to the open air market twice and liked it both times. They have a food court where you can get food from different countries.

We stay at the Nashville KOA. It is by far the most expensive campground we have stayed at. The good thing is that if you stay at any of the three campgrounds near the Opy Hotel (they are all in a row) you can have a shuttle pick you up and drive you to downtown Nashville. Thst is important to us since we have a big dually. We love Nashville and will probably return every year when we travel south. Andrew Jackson's home, The Hermitage, is in the Nashville area. Not sure if that is something your kids would enjoy though.
