Thanks for all of the positive encouragement. Today is going much smoother. Still figuring out the black tank thing. We are not hooked to sewer where we are camping. Tried Happy Camper in the tank the first time and noticed it was starting to smell this morning...had not even #2'ed in it yet. And...it was not overly hot outside. Had some packets with me too...dropped one of those in, open the roof vent a little, turned the fan on...and it seemed to resolve itself. Guess the first dump will be an adventure :). Guessing I will need to get a hose support as well because everyone I see that is hooked to sewer has one of those. Gotta keep up with the Joneses :).
I have a Class B van so for me camping at a campground is park and plug. I drove a truck many years ago and my current job is to anticipate and prevent problems at work. (Along with a million other things.) My unit is 9'2 but I have 9'6 over the windshield in case a mechanic drives my unit for some reason. The empty weight is just over that so they don't go through a light bridge. One thing I make sure to do is hook a sign over my steering wheel. I made one up that just says "Shoreline!". I haven't driven off while hooked up yet and this is to keep me from doing that. I'd normally notice the shoreline when I police the camp site before leaving but still........... Just remember, nothing is fool proof to a talented fool. Or someone with cranial flatulence.
