Opinions on 1998 Newmar MOUNTAIN AIR 33FT

We are looking to buy our first Class A, we have camped in tents, pop up trailers and several Travel Trailer. We have come to a time and age where we thought a Class A may better suit our needs. We have been looking for months but it's very difficult when everything is a 1000+ miles away. We have found a 1998 Newmar MOUNTAIN AIRE 33FT (Diesel puller) that seems to meet our requirements; does anyone one have experience with these units good or bad they could share with us?
Thanks
  • You sure it is a puller and not diesel pusher? PULLER means engine up front and LOUD.
  • We would also recommend Newmar but also have it thoroughly checked over before buying it. You just don't know how the previous owner(s) took care of it. If they have all the maintenance/repair records that's an added plus, for sure. Good luck!
  • I also have a NEWMAR 5ver.
Newmar builds excellent motorhomes and pays attention to detail.
YOur only problem is determining if the OWNER took care of the rig.
    NEWMAR is a quality rig.

They will help you if you buy even though you are not the original owner
  • Our Mountain Aire is a fifth wheel rather than a MH, but I can attest to Newmar quality in general witch is top-notch. Our unit is 10 years old - we have had it for eight - and the last 7 years we have lived in it for 6 to 7 months a year.

Sure there have been some minor repairs here and there, but the inside still looks like new. The outside is starting to show it's age a bit with faded decals.

Their service support is also outstanding.

Don't plan on replacing ours anytime soon, but I would not hesitate to buy another Newmar.
