Oregon Coast

We would like to travel the Oregon Coast fr the interior of BC in April & wondering what campgrounds might be open at that time. What are the recommendations for this time of the yr & what sites should a person make sure to take in?
We prefer the private ones, but the state parks usually have bigger sites.
We drive a 33' motor home with a tow vehicle.
What is the weather 'usually' like in April?

Great answers above. Not only are there lots of "state" parks, there are also many private parks that offer great places to stay. We spend our summers in Newport at the Pacific Shores Motorcoach Resort.

What type and size rv do you have. It would be nice if you put this info in your signature so that others can offer better responses.

  • virtually all the oregon state park campgrounds on the coast are open ALL year. for some not all loops are open, and not all sites are reservable, but the parks are open. My experience is that in april you should be able to find a site at virtually all of them as well.

Also many county park campgrounds are open in april, again many good parks.

IMHO you won't be disapointed in any of the parks.
  • I'll add a couple, Seaside SP, South Beach SP(near Newport), Honeyman SP(Florence), McKinney, Marina and RV park(Waldport) not near beach but maybe 4 miles.

Come on down and enjoy the coast! You will find almost all the SP open, you might consider getting reservations for the weekends as some parks get pretty full on the weekends.
  • Campgrounds on the Oregon coast are open year round - We have camped on the entire coast for nine weeks in 10 different spots from the far north to the far south in recent years in January and February
  • Most of the Oregon State Parks are very nice and shouldn't be very crowded in April. I often stay at Beverly Beach which is close to Newport (restaurants, shopping etc).
  • Starting at the top, Ft. Stevens, netarts bay RV park, sea and sand, Salmon Harbor at Winchester bay to name a few.
  • there are thousands of Oregon Coast threads, in the RV parks/Campgrounds section.
you'll find weeks of reading there.

the Oregon State Parks are the best state parks we've ever been to.
    check them out.
Harris Beach is one of our favorites.
