- RollnhomeExplorerI like dogs. Had one or more since I can remember. I full timed with a 70lb dog and a cat for six years. Campground Host for several Summers. All the campgrounds I hosted at (4) had
a no dogs left unattended rule. That meant tied up out side or left in the RV. I've stayed in hundreds of RV parks/campgrounds. Most had the same rule. A lot of folks thought the rule didn't apply to them. In one state park in Washington the Rangers had the unattended dog picked up and taken to the pound. The cat I leave. I have left the dog she didn't bark unless I wasn't there. - mockturtleExplorer II

The same way that people interpret the 'no alcohol' rule. :)
I'm amazed how people can rationalize the rules to make themselves exempt and an exception to the rules. If it says "Dogs are not to be left unattended" it means don't go off and leave your dog unattended. How can you interpret it any different? - ScottGNomad

Wrong again!!!:h
Whats wrong with that statement. It's plain English and means EXACTLY what it says.
To make it even more clear, here's a definition:
Adjective:
1. Not noticed or dealt with: "her behavior went unnoticed and unattended to".
2. Not supervised or looked after: "it is not acceptable for parents to leave children unattended at that age".
The generalized interreptation of the Rule in question concerns leaving a Dog outside unattented. No matter how the dog haters try to re-interrupt the meaning, changes NOTHING. You can or anyone here can say its my way or the highway...that doesnt make it so. You speak of behavior as if there is some behavior to be upset at...what if there is No such behavior to be pissed at and the only issue is the fact someone else has a Dog(thats the Norm rather than the exception). The responders here that make such an issue of "pets" in general dont give a Rats Azz about anything but themselves....the only good dog is the one thats left at home and to that I say you can all Kiss my.....fill in the blank! By the way, my dogs are OLD enough to be left unattented in my RV!!!
The rules have never said "outside" in any CG I've ever stayed at. You added that part.
It's also a nice try to make out anybody that supports this rule as a "dog hater". I didn't see where anybody said they don't want dogs in CG's in general
I guess you think all this twisting of facts takes the heat off people like you that don't care if their dogs are bothering others.
It doesn't, it just makes you look even more self-centered. - et2Explorer

Probably because in a 100 site RV park there is almost always one incessantly barking dog left alone in a rig. It gets really, really old enforcing any kind of policy. The norm is we finally get ahold of the person. They apologize profusely and tell us it will never happen again. The dog is then left alone to bark incessantly the next day and we notice that they are scheduled to leave the next morning anyway, so there is really nothing we can do short of tossing them out and create a big scene at 9PM when they return from their day trip. We then take the path of least resistance and say "What the Flip" and let nature take it's course and wave goodbye to them in the morning and then start following our ears to the next problem pup. It's only one dog, but they disturb entire sections of a park. Doesn't take too many for it to be a constant problem for both the park and the guests.
Good grief...... some ppl need to chill out. Just because some dogs don't know how to behave or have irresponsible owners, you lump all dogs and dog owners in one category?
Get real - there are wife beaters out there - does that mean all men are wife beaters? There are women who can be real shrews - does that mean all women are like that? There are children who are neglected and unsupervised - does that mean all kids and parents fall into that group? Some people steal - does that mean all people steal?
I surely don't understand the attack this thread took on, against dog owners.
Wouldn't it be more convenient for you to ban dogs from your campground? It wouldn't bother most dog owners one bit avoiding your place all together. You never know when those yappy ones will show up. But I'm sure that would bite a little into the revenues wouldn't it. You could do us a favor by letting us know the name and location of your campground. I would be happy to pass you by during my travels. No hard feelings either. - AcampingwewillgExplorer II

I surely don't understand the attack this thread took on, against dog owners. - Jim_ShoeExplorerApparently nobody has loud, drunken parties and/or loud barking dogs, so you have to wonder why CG operators have to mention it in their rules.
I've never faced the problem myself, but the campground is where I park my rig to see things in the area, so I'm not there during the day, and most dog owners are home in the evening which makes the dogs happy and quiet. If animals or humans were out of bounds noise-wise, I'd talk to the park manager/owner, since I'm paying the same fee as others in the park and expect them to follow the same rules that I do. - skipncharExplorerYes that is what it means. Everyone I know who does it anyway says "MY DOG DOES NOT BARK WHILE I AM GONE" SEVERAL of them are correct :)

Absolutely not. I thought it was common knowledge that rules and policies only apply to other people. You are always exempt from any rule you don't agree with. It was spelled out on the stone table that Moses accidentally broke that had the final five of the fifteen commandments on it. It was Commandment 14: "Thou arth special and shalt noteth be obligated follow any rule or law of man if thou doesn't wanteth to. Thoueth Knows better than the rulemaker, showeth him that youeth's does noteth stink.westernrvparkowner wrote:

Everyone KNOWS you can ignore any rule, policy or law if you feel breaking it will either cause you an inconvenience, or really won't do any harm. Get with the program.
Just curious, when they state a quiet time do most observe it, when stated no booze do most observe it, when stated no grills on picnic tables do most observe it, etc. This stuff gets old.
Funny, I've been to many campgrounds where the hootin and hollering goes on all night ,and the next, and the next. It surely caused many some inconvienance. All the while my dogs were nice and quiet. So does the program only apply to dog owners?
