Do the research on the re-sale value and price for a 5 y/o Alto Safari retractable or fixed roof TT assuming you can find one;). Standing by what I said :).
FL is gonna have to live without my presence and I'm sure the residents are crying:B.
Back to the OP........no experiences with owning a used RV.
Paid about 31K US with some customization. Plan to sell it approx. 2-3 years later and should be able to recoup almost all I paid. I can ohh and ahh at 5th wheels and various class A motorhomes with the best of em but have no place to park either and want to de-clutter my life for a bit. This unit should be fine towed by a Santa Fe which I can easily park on city streets as opposed to a pickup truck. The Santa Fe isn't set in stone (the man keeps drooling every time we pass a Land Rover dealership....sigh) but it gives us a touchstone. - K_CharlesExplorerI have never bought a new car or truck in my life.
Pickup camper used
Pop-up new
Two TTs new
MH used
I would buy used again and new again if the price was right - Addy15ExplorerTwo years ago we bought a pre-owned pop-up. It had been very lightly used and was in beautiful condition. We were lucky to find it. We did see many that were really awful.
One year ago we sold the pop-up (still in beautiful condition as DH is very obsessive about how he takes care of and maintains his things) and bought a brand new travel trailer. We looked at some used stuff, but between objectionable odors, worn out and/or dirty upholstery, questionable maintenance, and a whole list of other reasons, we just did not find anything suitable. So we bought new. And I think we would do it again. But we are just those people I guess -- the ones who buy new. We've built two brand new houses also... :-) - pianotunaNomad IIIHow much did you pay? Cute as a bug but not for me.

Yup,
And I've got some prime land in southern Florida along the coast line--guaranteed to not flood in the next 1000 years.NYCgrrl wrote:
No problems with excessive depreciation for the RV we bought since it keeps it's value.

Used. I prefer someone else take the depreciation "hit".
Same here. USED and not abused - mowermechExplorer" We didn't feel like driving all over the place just to find the weight of trailers."
I only have two comments:
1. the only way to be sure you have the correct weight is to weigh it.
2. I live in the country. Within 7 miles of my house there are:
2 gravel pits with full length certified scales
2 scrap yards with certified scales
2 (maybe 3) truck stops with Cat certified scales
A couple more miles brings me to a grain elevator that has certified scales.
It just isn't that difficult for many people to find scales. - pianotunaNomad IIIYup,

It worked out great in my favor. Ive had the trailer for a few years now with no real issues
