I never hook up to city water. I fill my fresh water tank and use my on-board pump. Why you ask? Because this way I NEVER have to worry about the water pressure at the campground and NEVER have to use a pressure regulator.
But you do have to continually keep fresh tank full and you are putting more wear and tear on your pump and converter.Running off tank requires more effort with little to no benefit in return
Nothing wrong with your approach, but I see no advantage to your method.
RV diaphragm pumps...run dry w/o damage cause diaphragm only moves 1/8"
Easy to turn on/off....just a flip of the switch
If leak develops pump lets you know...burrrup
Takes maybe 10 minutes to fill/top off tank
Water pressure is constant/steady....same regardless of where you go
Wear/tear on converter :H
City water....
Best to always use a regulator cause you just never know
Pressure can/does fluctuate
Leaks can go on undetected until major damage done
Have to turn off at spigot/or some shut off
After $6000 damages due to leak while on city water....benefit to using fresh water tank ALL the time is priceless.
