. Same here.
I saved my antifreeze from last year by running the kitchen, bathroom sink and tub taps off the water pump and collecting the pink stuff that came out in a pan. I ran a cold tap until it began to sputter, closed the cold and repeated the procedure with the hot tap, closed the hot tap and then moved on to the next one. Then poured the pan contents back into the original antifreeze jug. I figured why waste it just because it sat in a pipe instead of a jug over the winter? Toilet line antifreeze just went into the black tank to be discarded. - I saved my antifreeze from last year by running the kitchen, bathroom sink and tub taps off the water pump and collecting the pink stuff that came out in a pan. No problem as LONG as you blew out your lines before introducing antifreeze last year. If the antifreeze has water mixed with it it will be much less effective. Probably would still work for warmer climates but up north where temps sometimes reach 10 or 20 below zero, I'd go with fresh undiluted antifreeze. If you blew out your water lines before adding antifreeze you will have very LITTLE dilution. In any case it's VERY cheap insurance against damage.
I assume the OP is talking about having some leftover unused antifreeze.
How would one save the used antifreeze from the previous year? I run my taps and the antifreeze goes into the grey tank. I'm certainly not saving anything that comes out of my waste tanks.
If a person needs to save money by saving used antifreeze I'm surprised they can afford to camp at all... - skipncharExplorerNo problem as LONG as you blew out your lines before introducing antifreeze last year. - RoyBExplorer IIII bought a gallon of it when I got my POPUP trailer back in 2008. Since I use the DRAIN of tanks and BLOW-OUT method for the lines I am still using the same one gallon bottle that I pour down the two P-TRAPS I have after blowing all of the lines out.
Nothing busted up on me yet but the winters here in Northern Neck Virginia don't get all that bad. Sometimes camping in the winter months up in the local mountains I can get down below ZERO a few times and still surviving ok with my quick DRAIN AND BLOW-OUT method using my 12VDC tankless air compressor....
The methods allows me to just fill the freshwater tank the next day when things warm up and continue on camping when in the high country...
