I got into a deal like this in ND last year. The storm was so wide I could not outrun it.
NWS gave the most severe weather warning I have ever heard over a radio. It basically said if you're in a trailer or MH you're pretty much going to be dead if the storm hits you!! I'm like what the.... $%*&(!! They said 75 to 100 MPH winds!! :E
Ok, so we beat the storm to a town and pull into a truck stop. I go inside and there were a dozen truckers in the all around a TV set. I was directly in the path of the storm. :E
So I go outside and there were about 2 dozen big rigs all lined up in a row. ...............When in Rome...........So I get in line and tuck up as close as I can to the big rig reefer beside me. I mean Earnhart had nothing on me!! I was swappin paint I was so close.
I told my ol lady and kids to pack blankets against the windows so if something hits them we won't be cut to ribbons. The air was so still it was eerie. Like no wind at all. The sky where the storm was coming from was ink black.
And then it hit! Lighting everywhere and rain like I have never seen in Ca. The rain drops had like a cup apiece in them!
In the end the wind was not as bad as they predicted it would be. Maybe 40 to 50 MPH winds, so not too bad.
As far as towing at 65 MPH or whatever, lets not be silly. That is NOTHING like getting hit will a side blast at 65 MPH.
This is what is going to happen with a TT in a small wind! When I don't know what to do, I typically look to see what the old timers and locals do. There is a reason they live so long. :B
