slideout in 93 holiday rambler wont work

Hello y'all
We have a 1993 holiday rambler imperial 5th wheel and the slide out won't work, acts like its not getting any power, we checked the fuses and put a new battery on it , still nothing no sound at all, we did get the slide in manually , but we want to sell the camper and need it to work , any ideas, we don't even know where the motor is at . thanks
  • I ended up having a mobile rv. Guy come out ,he found some wires were loose and the switch wasn't getting power, he got it fixed and 135.00 later the slide works . now if I can sell it all will be good
  • You may also have a relay involved. Slide motors take a lot of amps so it's common for the switch to activate a relay for the motor.
  • Could be http://www.delcity.net/store/Auto-Reset-Circuit-Breakers-!-12-volt/p_198669 one of these. On travel trailers, it is normally mounted on the frame, near where the positive battery cable enters the trailer. I'm pretty sure they have them on 5'ers, also. Don't know about where it might be. Maybe, close to the battery. Maybe, close to slide motor.

Slide motor should be under the slide. Use a volt meter to test for 12 volt power at the motor. Follow the wires, back towards the battery. Look for an inline fuse or circuit breaker.

If you find a breaker, test it for 12 volt power between the two posts. Do this with shore power disconnected. Breakers are readily available at most auto parts stores. They come in various amperage. For a slide out, it's probably 30 amp.

Let us know, when and what the fix is.
  • Does the battery have a full charge? That is necessary for the slide to work, sometimes even if plugged into shore power. Check the battery first if you have not, cause it ain't gonna work without a good battery.
  • I asked hubby Sunday and he said yes, going to check the switch tonight when he gets home. The switch had no sound to it when we pushed the switch, also the red light wasn't on. Where would the slide out motor be so we can look and see if anything looks broken . thanks
