I have always wondered, why the accent on "a child"? As the father of 6, step-father of 1, I just do not understand it. What makes "a child" more important than somebody a few (or a great many) years older? At what age does the person become less important?
Now that I have that rant out of the way, I can address the OP. I simply do not go to Canada or Mexico. Ever. In fact, I no longer go to California, and don't plan to go to Washington (even though three of my kids live on the coast). I will probably never go East of the Mississippi River again. At nearly 77 years old, my travel is pretty muich restricted to Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, and Nevada. There is a great deal I haven't seen in those four states, so I can happily travel in them for the rest of my life.
