- themoreweexplorExplorerthat would be a good video. I don't know enough about those to speak to them. :)
I agree though. I didn't even know toy haulers existed 'till 3 months ago. - Deb_and_Ed_MExplorer IINice, informative video! Maybe a second video, explaining the "other options" out there like truck campers, popup trailers, hybrid and teardrop trailers, etc. Everyone has an idea of how they'd like to get away and recreate....they just may not be aware of the options?
- themoreweexplorExplorerI appreciate it drew. You're right, finding a 4x4 is going to be impossible. I'm going to be doing the 4x4 conversion myself. I've got a lot of experience modifying 4x4s, but I've never done a van. I've researched it a lot and it shouldn't be too bad.
I think a quigly NV or transit would rock. I'd love an ecoboost transit, that'd be a killer setup. I'm going to need to compromise somewhere, as the van i want is expensive, as is an airstream. - DrewEExplorer III hope you find something that works out really nicely for you.
I'm not sure how many 4x4 E350 diesel 15 passenger vans exist, much less how likely you are to find one. The 4x4 was, of course, an aftermarket conversion.
If it were me, I might also consider the current Transit vans—which don't have quite the same tow capability, but should be adequate for the trailers you're looking at with a bit of care—or the Nissan NV vans. Both have much nicer seats in the back than the usual Ford E-series ones. If you're thinking of spending a good amount of time actually on the road, that can make a big difference.
Just my unsolicited opinion...maybe not even worth what you paid for it...;) - themoreweexplorExplorer

I think we're pretty close. Here's what we're thinking.
Airstream Flying Cloud 25 or 27.
4x4 Ford E350 15 passenger van (7.3L diesel preferrably). This will be the tow vehicle and will double as a garage for the bikes, camping gear, etc. Plus we could ditch the airstream for a day or two and sleep in the van if needed.
That's the thinking for now anyway. Nothing else really appeals. - RRinNFlaExplorerAbsolutely great job.
As to why A, B, C: I have always thought that was the order they came in to being. Class A's go back to the 1950's, conversion vans (B's) were an outgrowth of the VW mini-buses of the 70's, then finally the class C's. Maybe not accurate, but it is an explanation. - Roo_CamperExplorer

As always, there are exceptions to the rules, but these are general guidelines.
RV Classification, pros and cons.
I watched all of them.. very nice..have you found your "perfect" home yet? I'm curious to see what you guys decided on.. :) - Jim_ShoeExplorerGood information. I wish it had been there before I bought my first RV. I'd bet that lots of people on here are on (at least) number 2. I know I am.
Since I'm single, my first RV was a Class B Roadtrek. All I needed, space wise. But to make everything work in something that size, everything had to do double duty, and I was impressed by the ingenuity of the design. But it turned out that I don't consider the CG my destination. I travel to an RV park in my 'C', set it up and explore for a week or more with my Jeep Wrangler toad. In the Roadtrek, I had to unhook electric, water and sewer, explore, and then return to the CG and hope that my spot was still available. Sometimes, it wasn't. And the whole mess was nobody's fault but my own. - mowermechExplorerBasically a good video, with good explanations.
Not entirely accurate, perhaps, but nothing major.
Thanks. - gboppExplorerI didn't watch the whole video yet.
From the first few minutes I've seen it appears to be what most people new to RV's need, a plain English, common sense description of the different type of units available.
Thanks for creating this helpful video and taking time to post it on the forum.
I'm sure many people will find it very useful.
