I thought when I had bought my TT that the fridge was going to be too small even though several people told me it would not be. We are a type of family that does not eat out very often nor eat mass produced foods( I suffer from migranes), so we carry lots of food and almost 4 gallons of milk for a long weekend. I am trying to decide on wether to buy a Yeti cooler vs buying a second fridge to keep all of our items cold. The 60 qt cooler I bought needs 2 bags of ice every 24 hours even though in the shade. Any thoughts out there?
Just to clarify for me (not enough coffee yet...)... So you have bought a TT? And the TT's refrig is to small? Or are you planning on buying a TT?
You are thinking of buying a Yeti, in addition to a 60 quart cooler you already have?
If you buy a second refrig, are you going to have it installed in your camper, carry it in your vehicle and setup at a campsite, or are you seasonal camping and the refrig will stay at the campground?
If you have a seasonal campsite, definitely get another refrig and keep it there (either inside or outside, if allowed at the campground).
Carrying a second, small, loose refrig could get difficult sometimes if it slides around - could get damaged.
We have two mid size coolers (I forget what size) that we sometimes take with us camping depending on people and food planning. Both I bought on sale - one is an Igloo Cube, which is nice because the square shape works when it is heavy while moving due to the wheels and handle setup but not as easy to access interior items as our "normal" rectangle cooler. I don't think I spent over $40 for each of the coolers (probably half that), and they keep ice for days. Remember to try to "cool down" a cooler before loading it, sometimes just putting in a cool basement will work. They are also small enough that I can move them when they are full.
Buying high quality is always a good thing, but sometimes less expensive will work almost as well.
