2013 Mabibu baseplate

The 2013 Malibu is NOT TOWABLE 4 down. I just got off the phone with the salesman. Gives you a lot of confidence and besides that he is our neighbor!!!!



I presently have a Blue Ox towing package, base plate for our HHR, tow bar and braking system. We are looking at a 2013 Malibu to replace it.

Low and behold Blue Ox does noy make a base plate for it!!!

Does any one make a base plate for it that has an adapter for the Blue Ox tow bar.

How about another alternative?

    Is it an automatic? If so I don't think it can be flat towed. We kept our 2007 Malibu for a toad when we bought a 2013 Malibu. I didn't investigate a lot but I don't think the new 6 spd auto can be flat towed. Check the owners manual.

    The new 6 spd is a CVT trans and cannot be towed 4 flat. When they came out with the Cruze in '11 with the same trans there was a big thing about it. I heard GM bought some back and I also heard they bought some owners a dolly.

    For what its worth, I have a 2012 Malibu that I've towed about 10,000 miles.

    Not an answer to the question but according to the manual, the 2014 Malibu is towable. Page 355 all except electric.

    He was not aware of that when he first posted. I mentioned it, he checked and has edited is original post.

    2014 Malibu....with e assist is not towable 4 wheel down. without e assist you can flat tow 4 wheel down....
