Baseplate

You can call around to some local body shops...they should be somewhat familiar with the install. Of course, the RV shop will probably have done a lot more of them, which may make a difference to you. It really depends on just how much of a difference there is in the price.

I don't know if the RV Service Shop will really be upset that you didn't get the base-plate from their Parts Store. Work is money, and Money is King!!:B Unless they are really crazy busy, I'm sure they will be more than happy to do the install....for the right price!!

Hello..sounds like your conscience has rule over your pocket book.....Rv dealers rip you....there must be a local shop with enough moxy to install it....I bought mine for 93 ranger on line and it still cost 400 ....installed it myself....if you cant I would try a local shop if they can get in the cost ballpark.
Notice I have had some experience with dealerships that their service people don't know jack......
Just use your head for your decision ...............

Installing them is not rocket science. Any shop that can read instructions can install one. The instructions usually state how much time it will take to install. Find a shop, show them the instructions and see if they'll base their rate off of the install hours listed.

I've installed all of my base plates myself 2 Avalanches, a Malibu and a Traverse -- Blue Ox has very good instructions -- why not read the instructions online, that way you'll get a feel as to whether it's a job you want to tackle....Absolutely NOT rocket science.

I have the BlueOx baseplate on both my Chevy HHR and Ford Ranger. Use the same tow-bar too.
My HHR, I did the install(2007). For the Ranger (2011) due to a chronic bad shoulder, I had my RV dealer do the work.

Dealer is Indian Valley in Souderton...not far from Morgantown.

Installed 3 of the last 4 myself. Not rocket science, just follow the directions. The 4th, I had to go back and fix the RV dealers mistakes and properly tighten the bolts, so might as well have done it myself.

Baseplate installation isn't rocket science. If not mechanically inclined, it may seems that way. I found that I could completely remove the front end of a Saturn in less than two minutes??? Yes, two minutes. Some cars just have plastic plugs holding components on. I installed a Blue Ox on a Ford Aerostar, Saturn and a Suzuki Grand Vitara. None had any surprises on the installation.

Dave, I had my service guy do it. He does my work on the MH too. He does the Worley and Obetz truck service also. Cost about $150 if I remember right.

I would call the maker of your baseplate and ask them for a recommendation. Should be less expensive if this is the 10th one the tech has done than if it is the very first.

Yes, you may have to go to "Plan B", but start with "Plan A".
