- VannnceExplorerIve arrived late before, but i always call and ask. Often when i move its because the job site has changed, working 6-7 days a week, 12-14 hours a day leaves me little time to get moved, situated and ready to work asap. Not everyone pulls in late because theyre inconsiderate. Like anything else, everyone has a story.
- kcmoedoeExplorerWe often stay in a park that doesn't allow check-ins after 9PM. They call all arriving guests to check on their arrival times starting about 4PM in the afternoon. If a guest isn't going to make it, they tell them to hold up and cancel their reservation for that day (and they don't charge for that day). I asked them why they did that, since it would obviously cost them some money, and they told me that their primary consideration are the guests who are in the park. They would much rather lose a night's rent on a site than have an arrival at midnight that disturbs large numbers of guests. Got to admit, I really appreciate not having someone pull in at 1 AM and spend the next two hours idling their rigs, shouting directions to goodness knows who as to where to put the barbeque grill, kids slamming doors and all the other assorted noises that some people make when all they should be doing is pulling in, turning everything off and going to bed. I agree with the others, if you are still on the road late at night, do the Wal-mart or the truck stop or the rest stop.

That is a bit of a rude response from a person who is reminding the OP about manners!
jesseannie - mowermechExplorerIMO, at that time of night one should look for a highway rest area or a truck stop or a parking lot. One should not inflict discomfort on others due to one's own PPP (Poor Prior Planning).
- coolbreeze01ExplorerMy park owner friend has people pull in late and leave early without paying.
- LaurenExplorerOne of most horrible experiences was at the rv park in Woodbury, MN.
They have a swing gate with a latch on it so that people know do not know about the latch cannot come in. We were not told about that nor were we told he closes it at 6pm and NO ONE except those staying there is allowed in.
We were up visiting son / family on our first day (of 10) and got back about 7pm - still daylight. I figured out how to open the gate and there was a 5er behind us so I pulled the truck and let him in and then closed the gate behind him.
We no sooner got to our site than the owner came out and told us he was throwing us out and no refund. And told us we violated the rule (which we were never told). Of course he had been doing his "5 o'clock" pretty solid.
(But earlier in the day we had had (along with many other people) a discussion with his wife in the office (only place you can do WiFi - a router) who insisted all our computers were bad and the WiFi was fine. We, of course, then went down the road to a coffee shop and, amazingly, all our computers were just fine.)
Told us if we were not out in 15 minutes he was calling the police. He is closed and 6pm and no one in, etc, etc. Had everyone in the park looking at him.
Well, since there is no other place even close to this one I cranked up my old marketing skills to negotiate and we got to stay the night - then the next day he came by and never said a word about us having to leave so I just kept my mouth shut and we stayed the full time - and far away from him.
So, it just depends on the park. Some are closed but I think most have some sort of a late arrival policy and procedure. Call in advance. - Opie431ExplorerBesides Walmart there are other large stores that allow overnight parking. Some towns do not permit it.
And some places allow parking overnight but not pulling out slides. I saw on MH at a Walmart being asked to leave because of that.
Plan ahead. - Mr_BeeboExplorerHuntington Beach State Park in Myrtle Beach padlocks the gates after dark. If you don't have the combination the ranger gave you at the office during check in, you are sol.

- down_homeExplorer IISome camps seem to be wide open. Some have a gate and it closes generally at 10:00 pm. We've had family guest over playing cards after 10, quietly of course and left with no problem. Others have sat outside the gate all night at one we stay at because they arrived so late. Generally the office and store closes about dusk. It's a good idea about the gate sometimes. People cruise through. Late arrivals can be very disturbing such as one at an Austin RV Resort two years go. Came in about midnight, front engine diesel very large B. Sat idling forever, and couldn't get in spot so cruised around the loop and couldn't get in and then back out the entrance and back in and pulled in and several people making enough noise to wake the dead. The Park was already awake from the disturbance.
