We are only weekender or vacationers but live n the same area as you (35 miles away). We weekend often at Cedar Ridge Park Lake Belton or at Whitney Lake. While camping, our AC is set to run continuously at 68 degrees. The actual temp inside the camper (depending on the shade of the site) may only get to 72 during the day. We own an AC business and my husband says they are made to run and it will not hurt the compressor. Starting and stopping in the temps we get in this area is much harder on AC's then continuously running. I say pick a temp and leave it. No need to turn up and down unless you are uncomfortable with the temp. The reason we bought our FW is because we like camping but preferred to do so with modern conveniences of home. My home AC stays set at 72 in the summer during the day and we prefer 68 at night. Our FW AC set at 68 achieves the very same. Also, we built our house 9 years ago and lived in a FW onsite during construction. It was 4 months during one of the biggest heat waves (June-Sept). Our AC was never turned off during that time and the fan was set to continuously run...no problems at all.
