Any ideas for safe transport of spare gas for the gen?

Do you folks carry a generator and extra gas in cans? Where do you store the full gas can(s)during travel? I was originally planning to place them inside a Stanley Tool Box located in the bed of m...

I built a 24 gallon aluminum tank that bolts to the back of my tool box and aux. diesel tank. I have a removable gas line that is 20' long to connect it to the trailer. I also carry a 6 gallon boat tank to run the generator when I have to go fill the big tank.
