Any ideas for safe transport of spare gas for the gen?

Do you folks carry a generator and extra gas in cans? Where do you store the full gas can(s)during travel? I was originally planning to place them inside a Stanley Tool Box located in the bed of m...

I use steel jerry cans of the NATO variety. You can buy holders for them too so you can mount them. Mine aren't CARB legal but I'm not in Ca. You can get CARB legal ones if you want. Most plastic ones suck until you step up to pro grade refueling stuff.
