Turtle !!!! Such fun !!! Love that kind of project !!!!
But, gotta be devils advocate for discussion purposes...
#1 is that if used on public roads (touches pavement), it must have a DOT certification
#2 Can't see how it will back up. It will bind
Otherwise, a fun project and keep us posted on how it goes !
No problem with devils advocate; none at all.
I wondered about #1. Not so much about the DOT thing but the license thing. I was told in Ca if a tire touches the road it needs to be licensed. IOW's a dolly needs to be licensed in CA. Wonder if I need to license my stinger? :h But then again I have seen those hitch racks that have a tire on the road and they don't have a plate on them? :h I will have to check into this when the time comes.
#2; great minds think alike. :B I wondered about that? I agree the swing radius would be different. If I made my own I would make it so the tire can pivot a few degrees to take the bind out. I really don't know how much find there would be in this thing. Evidently not too much because the factory ones don't pivot. In any event mine will pivot if I go through with this.
I'm really more concerned about the frame of my 56 more than anything. I will really have to do a lot of reinforcement to it for a hitch.
At this point I'm just thinking out loud. :)
