Ask for a discount when buying parts from your dealer.

Went by my dealer today to pick up a new motor for our steps.

The price listed on the item was at 10% off what they say was the list. As the nice fellow was ringing up my order he gave me the total. I asked if they gave any discounts to people who had purchased their RV's from them.

Yes they do. He asked when I purchased my unit and then proceeded to subtract another 10%. That made it less than the best price I had found it on line, and I didn't have to wait on shipping.

I was happy that I had asked.
  • I always ask for a discount whenever I am buying almost anything.

95% of the time they will give me one just because I asked!

With a smile, and looking them right in the eyes, I ask "Can you do any better than that on the price?"

I have saved a lot of money over the years like that.
  • I bought from this one dealer in 2000 and asked at that time for a 10% discount. they wanted my business so they said yes. to this day I still get the discount. I found out that buying from him I could get things cheaper than going through CW and didn't have to join a club to get cheap prices and even don't have to pay freight.
  • I got a free "Wholesale Club" card from my dealer for buying my 'C' there. Its good for a 10% discount on parts and service. It doesn't expire, they ask me if I have one, and they can look it up on the computer if I don't have it with me.
  • I try never to pay asking price for anything. I even negotiate at Lowes and Home depot. Most of the time I save some, sometimes I save a lot, rarely get told no.
  • The dealer I bought my trailer from gives automatic 10% off but the guy close to home that I didn't buy from I just asked about it and they put me in their system and give me the same. I buy all my parts there when I need as it saves a half hour drive each way. Pretty good business practice and also all I did was ask.
  • The dealer I bought from gave me two 10% discount cards. Last year the guy at the parts counter told me not to lose them. They only give out 5% discount cards now.
  • I just quote an internet price. Unless if it's something small there's usually free shipping. Most all businesses will meet or beat someone else's prices. The ones that don't, won't get my business.
  • When first buying an RV from a dealer is the best time to get discounts on extras. They do not want to lose the big ticket sale and this is a good time to get things at dealer cost and save a chunk of change. I did that and got the dealer to provide an AC upgrade at their cost and with free installation. It would be good to do that with awnings and other expensive add-ons.
  • Mine is automatic. I just have to remind them at checkout. I get 10% off of anything I buy from them for as long as I own the TT that I bought from them.
