Bad camping neighbors

Just rely on common sense - yes you made a little faux paux by walking in someones site - but since I don't know what the layout was, I'm not going to condem you. Just realize that people don't expect to see other people in their rented space. That said, common sense swings both ways. It's common sense to expect people to cook outside and have a camp fire while camping. It's also expected that some people put lights up and take their dogs for a walk. Now if someone is exceeding the boundries of these activities, - huge bon fires, 1000 watt lights, not picking up after their dogs or letting them relieve themselves on your space, then by all means be an adult and polietly talk to them. Be understanding if you are on the receiving side of one of these talks. If all you have tried fails, then speak to the management - have their number on your cell phone. Then when someone pours grease or whatever into you firepit you can resolve the situation at once instead of doing nothing ad squaking about it in exaggerated detail on RV.net. There is really no need to squabble with fellow campers or get revenge. The palces that don't enforce their own rules should get your negative review in theappropriate place. Happy camping to you.

I'm thinking of getting the ranger phone number when I checkin next time and having it just in case..

I have been to campgrounds that have posted rules about some of the above mentioned happenings. Being courteous and respecting other campers' space as they should yours should be all that is necessary. Unfortunately, it is a "ME" world and apparently those rules don't apply anymore. I do think that when you go to a campground a copy of the rules should be handed out and when you sign for the spot you agree to follow the rules or face eviction. At least you are made aware, if you chose not to read or abide by the rules you have no argument.

I have also been to campgrounds that really don't seem to care about how people act nor do nothing about it. Needless to say, they are on my black list.

If you don't say something then its your bad. If you say something and nothing happens then its up to the park to enforce compliance.

My dad sure had is own way with dealing with rude neighbors. Actually, just about every neighbor was rude to him. He complained about everything our neighbors did. When I was about 5 years old many decades ago, there was a neighbor right next to us who had a dog that kept coming into our yard and leaving little "presents" all over the place. So dad, in his way of thinking, retaliated by picking up all the @#$% with a shovel and after it got dark, he flung it all back into the neighbors yard. Who knows where it all landed and I could only imagine what it looked like. From what I can remember, their dog stopped coming over right after that.

It's funny some of the things you can remember from when you were really young. If you happen to find bacon grease or other @#$% you dropped onto our site flung all over your site or RV, it was probably me, your neighbor in the next site, hahahaha..... Dad sure taught me some great life lessons, lol!

Either they mistook you for part of the group?
Or they were trying to get you to leave so they could have more room.

Posts like this always remind me of one time I was standing in the admissions line at for a local community college. The two guys in front of me were talking about a roommate situation. One of the guys said

"My roommate holds the lease, but me and my friends are going to try to obnoxiate him out of there so they can move in." I've never heard the term before or after that day, but the meaning was clear. They were going to be obnoxious and irritating to the roommate until he had enough and moved out.

So it's always possible that these bad neighbors are doing it on purpose to get you to move on for their benefit.

Wow! Obnoxiate. Gotta LOVE it. I can obnoxiate with the best of them....

WHAT!?!?! Putting dog poop in a fire ring-even as revenge-is just a nasty suggestion. Even as a joke, it is in poor taste.

While I do not, many people do cook over campfires and freak out about stuff like this...LOL

But you are correct (as are others) that simply getting the host or staff/mgt involved.

All I can say is I'm glad I've never had to experience anything like that when camping.
