Black Ice Reminder

As I was typing my "wet leaves" reminder I also wanted to remind people about black ice. Nights are going below freezing in some areas. For those of you who aren't familiar with black ice, it's a skim coat of ice that looks like wet pavement and can be lethal. Wet pavement isn't always just wet pavement!
  • Good for you for thinking of other people's safety. The world needs more kind folks like you. :B
  • A good reminder. Black ice is not always apparent, especially at night. I was in a truck when the driver came upon black ice unexpectedly and flipped the trailer we were towing. It happens darn fast.
  • I don't even like ice in my whiskey. Carry-on

Of course not-it waters down the whiskey! :B

Sliding off the road is not funny or cute or cool.

When much younger I lived in, and did some of that sliding in, Michigan and Utah. That's one of the many reasons why I no longer live in places like that.

So true. I moved to Florida as a young man, just after leaving my car stuck in a snowbank, and then walking about 1/2 mile through deep snow to get home, in loafers.

That was when I said: "Enough"

LOAFERS are for dancing. Dancing on black ice would be impressive. Probably not much of a chance to practice in swampland!!!

  • The worst is when it is raining there is a thin film of water on top of the ice.

Of course, that was long before Funniest Home Videos, but that day would have easily been a winner.

Before retreating to the snow bank, I did try to walk uphill on the ice, twice. It didn't work. The slip, fall and the long slide back to the bottom of the hill were classics.

One reason I chose to live in swampland. :)
