the wife would like to replace the blinds in our f'ver and wondered if anybody had. Where did you get them, I know you can get custom blinds at most current lumberyards but do we need to go to the rv store instead to get the right ones.

NO you do not have to get RV specific... you don't even have to put the same kind of blinds.. my last TT had the aluminum mini blinds.. if I had kept the trailer was planning to replace all except kitchen with roman shades..

I've replaced mini-blinds in my rig. I used the same vendor used by Monaco so the mounting would be the same. Mine are the type where the strings attach to the wall at the bottom of the blind and you raise and lower using the bottom rail. They are by Ascot Enterprises and are reasonably priced.

On our last fifth wheel we had the day night shades and of course after awhile the rope broke. We went to lowe's and had them cut the aluminum blinds to the correct size and DH hung them. When we got rid of it one complete side of camper had day night shades and the other side had aluminum, it actually looked good due to kitchen area having the aluminum when we bought it.

We got tired of our day/night shades breaking and the expense associated with fixing them, so we replaced all of them with regular mini blinds from Lowes. We only had to custom order for one window due to it being an odd size. We have had them for about 7 months and love them. It was no problem installing them.

I was also going to suggest shades, my old camper had blinds and the new one has shades. you have three options, totally unobstructed, translucent, and opaque

I can't wait until our living and dining area day/night blinds fail! What a pain! I plan to replace them with mini blinds like we had in our previous RVs. I made drapes to go over the windows for the night times but like to have the windows open during the day. At least with mini blinds you can angle them so you can see out but stop the direct sunlight. Our day blinds make it look like a white screen you can't see through with the sun shining on it.
My DH says we'll replace them when the need arrives....hope it is soon.

DW got tired of repairing those annoying adjusting strings. She MADE all new curtains for our MH windows and they look a lot better than what came from the factory. She used spring loaded rods to hold them in place. There are a couple of small windows where the blinds have to remain so we just replaced the strings on those.

We have woven woods and love them. Very much a lightblocking r\Roman shade. If our next rig has the day/nite shades I'll just go to Lowes, HD or a shade place with the measurements and get room darkening Roman shades. They are a snap to install.
