A blowout is: the tire is good, good, good, good, BOOM, not good.
A TPMS is good for tires that get a puncture in them and go flat and shred. Only had one of those in my life in my life. Only felt a slight vibration in the steering wheel and saw a little rubber coming off.
Never had a blowout on my trailer and I have ran ST China tires all my life.
Of course I agree, it won't save you from a blowout, and TPMS is useful for maybe saving a slow leaking tire. But as noted above by others, a blowout is not always heard or otherwise felt, and the TPMS will alert you immediately and maybe minimize damage to the tire. Destroying a sidewall on a low, slow leaking tire is called a "run flat" in the trade as the sidewall gets so hot it literally melts and goes away. I don't give a hoot about the tire but would like to save my trailer's fenders from being ripped off if I can. Nothing's perfect and nothing's 100% but I'd never tow again without TPMS.
