Broken side view mirror help please

Hello kind friends! Thanks again for all the assistance is advance!

I have a 2008 Majestic. That's a former Cruise America built on a Ford E 350. Four Winds makes them for CA.

Arrived at the camp ground the other day and noticed that my driver side arm on the side view mirror seems to have randomly come apart from the mounting on the door. I had to duct tape it to get home. I didn't hit anything and it has always worked perfectly until recently. It seems to have come apart in a very strange place. Pics below asap. Any advice is helpful.

Other than the fact that it is now hanging by the wires unless I work it into a specific position, everything works. Blinker and button to electronically adjust mirrors are all good and still attached.

I have looked online and couldn't find this same type of side view arm assembly. I assume I will likely have to replace the whole thing? The mirror part is in great shape. It just broke where it attaches to the door and spins to move the mirror in when parked.

  • To find the part # look under the bottom mirror like this....If your lucky it will still be there, mine wasn't but with the help of Ryder and guys at Velvac we figured it out, good luck.

This post shows how to replace the mirror.

Unless y'all have completely different mirrors, Velvac mirrors have been side specific for at least the last 10 years and possibly longer.
  • I can't thank everyone enough! THANK YOU ALL! Looks like I need to locate the part # first and then I need to call Ryder. That's not a bad price compared to what I researched from Ford, assuming I was even looking at the right thing before your kind responses. The ones from other places were close to $500! Ouch.

The part number is located where? I assume this isn't too hard. Looks like a few panels removed from the inside of the door and then removal and connection. Maybe a few wires to splice? I have the mirrors with the electronic adjustment but I don't believe they are heated.

The biggest pain is the fact that my RV is parked kind of far away from where I live. Always pain to work on it that way.

I may be pushing my luck, but I will also call Cruise America and see if they will switch it out for me. They might. They have been amazing with little unforseen things like this so far without questions or complaints. They always have odd parts on hand from constant maintenance on a large fleet of rentals just like mine. Fingers crossed...

Once again, thanks for the time and (perhaps unfortunately gained) experience offered. :)

  • Here is the PDF that was talked about in the other thread by Golfknut from 2007 it seems to have disappeared in that thread.

  • It looks like it could be fixed until a replacement could be found by getting it into the proper position and drilling two 1/8 holes at 180 degrees from each other through both parts and bolting together with two 1/8 bolts.
  • I guess I would check with Ford to see if they had a replacement.
  • It has happened to me. Like This?

It is a design flaw that lets water into the arm,it corrodes the arm end and with all the pressure from that spring it pops off the keeper breaking the pin end.
