You know rule number one (no camping at a campground on holiday weekends)s.
That happened a few years ago on the banks of a lake.. just a big wide shoulder. I had to sit on the roof to make sure I wasn't gathering cinders.
That's why I have my second policy about the distance from a populated area. If I can get 2 or more hours away from a big town, then I can find places that don't get many "annoying people". The closer to a big town, the more popular it is with the "let's party" folks.
