CAMPGROUND PIGS

They are not campers, %90 of these pigs are weekend party animals.

Eww that sounds so nasty.

I have to say from all the state parks we visit most places are not piggy :)
bathhouses are never desirable but most are reasonably clean so far and we haven't encountered the total yucky in all our years of travels.

we use our rv facilities and use a blue tote as needed. I have full facilities at my fingertips, and paid a good price for them :) so we sure use our own rv.

mostly I wonder about all using the bathhouses in droves and they own fully contained rvs also??? too lazy to dump their tanks when needed I guess???

People in general can be pigs. Heck, we get the same behavior in the building I work in. And, there's no one in the building but engineers and other "professionals".

I love it..Its the same by me and now with signs in the bathroom 'Please dont put food in the urinals, they get backed up' I just think..Who is going to the bathroom eating a sandwich taking a pee and deciding half way through it that I dont want this sandwich anymore so they leave it there. LOL

We have signs all over..'If the coffee pot is empty..make a new pot'

Many are weekenders and feel someone else should pick up after them. I can only imagine what their homes look like...:E. In the last two parks we've stayed in I've noticed kids cutting thru occupied sites on a regular basis, including some parents. I watched one camper stretch a clothesline between his camper and a tree to prevent people from cutting thru. When did that rule change?. That said, the campground we are currently in had over 150 tents camped along with all the rigs packed in. Busiest park I've ever been in. Close to 2000 people. Everyone behaved with no fights and no loud music. I was amazed! The bath houses/restrooms did look like they were overworked and the single oversized dumpster was severely inadequate. They did bring in three or four extra porta_potties for the weekend. No fireworks inside the park although we are right on the beach so everyone went there...Dennis

It's nothing to do with camping IMHO, it's just the way lots of people float through life.

It's called entitlement.

In this case, it's 'I paid to stay here, it's someone's job to clean up after me and I'm PAYING for that.' It's no different than people not picking up after their dogs or letting their kids run around and terrorize other patrons in a restaurant.

I read all the posts and it occurs to me that this May be a generational difference as well as a geographical one.

When I was a kid (little) 50's and 60's Lady Bird Johnson was first Lady and Her Beautify America Campaign was the beginning of our environmental movement. Litter had become a big problem and we all grew up watching Iron Eyes Cody cry over the trashing of our country. That was a tremendously effective ad campaign.

Then Came High school and the first Earth Day.

The point is we grew up in a time of early and heightened awareness of littering and concern for the environment.

Now we have a generation or two that has grown up with an almost litter-free country and they may not realize all the work and heartache it took to get it that way. My bet is their Mother picked up for them and they think someone is paid to do the same at the campgrounds.

I am being very general here and fully realize there are many dedicated and environmentally aware kids out there. But sadly there is a certain type of American who just has no awareness or concern for others and feels it's their God Given right to do just as they please.

On a positive note: We just hosted some friends from England and went to Arches, Canyonlands and the Grand Canyon Natl Parks. I found them all to be spotless, litter free and my friends commented regularly on how amazingly CLEAN and well organized they were.

Simple solution...... Send the pigs a clean-up invoice with photos and make it clear that they are banned from the CG until it has been paid.

We have witnessed much of what others have stated. Went to a COE site 2 years ago, back home. Got to our site in the late afternoon. Backed in and started to set up. Noticed the fire pit was full of trash and not cleaned out. Very unusual as they normally clean the sites. Went back to the gatehouse and advised them. They said the lady that was there, didn't leave on time and they were unable to clean the site, but would come out immediately. 30 minutes later, a gentleman was shoveling the trash. He even raked the whole site. Later that night, I walked over to the bath house to check it out as we were having our parents over for a cook out. Walked up the urinal and there was feces in it. Have no idea who did it. But they are some gross inconsiderate people with no manners. Not only because of the gross factor and now having a urinal that is out of commission, but someone has to clean it up.

We like state parks, COE parks and other government type parks. They tend to be lower priced than resort type places. Which in turn can be a bad thing because you the type of people who don't give a flip about this type of stuff and they definitely aren't going somewhere and spend more money. Not always the case, but it is a deterence of some sort.

You don't have to go to some campgrounds to find it's not clean. My wife and I travel and been to a lot of hotels and I'm talking about big name hotels, the expensive ones, a few times we caught the maids cleaning the toilet seat with a rag and then wiping the sink and counter with it and twice once in San Fransico and in the carribean we caught the maid wiping the glasses with the same rag! My wife said never again will I use the bathroom in hotels without cleaning it myself. Another reason why we bought our TT it's clean and we know how it was done!

And gee, there are also people who rant about CG fees. Now you know why.
